Press Release (for immediate release)   Mogadishu-Somalia july 31,2024  The Federal Republic of Somalia condemned the killing of the Israeli entity on Wednesday of the head of the political office of the Islamic Resistance Movement in Palestine (Hamas) Ismail Haniya, may God have mercy on him in the Iranian capital, Tehran, in violation of international law and international humanitarian law.   Somalia fears an escalating pace of violence that could lead to more violations against civilians. Isolation would lead to widespread armed conflict in the Middle East.  If Somalis condemn the political killings and violence in all its forms, whatever its motives are. We emphasize the need for the international community to bear its responsibilities and to take immediate action to impose a stop to the Israeli aggression on Gaza and its violations of international law and UN resolutions.   Somalia expresses its sincere condolences to the sister state of Palestine and its people and to the family of Dr. Haniya and his companion, may God have mercy on them.  // The End //

President of Jubbaland State Visits Forward Operating Bases in Bulo-Haji

President Ahmed Madobe of Somalia’s Jubbaland State visited forward operating bases in Bulo-Haji, where National Armed Forces and regional troops eliminated 100 terrorists who attempted to attack an army base.  He commended the bravery and sacrifices of the troops and awarded hero’s medals to senior officers for their decisive decisions and strategies in defeating the terrorists.

SOMALI FM CONCLUDES DIASPORA CONFERENCE, URGES ENHANCED ECONOMIC TIES WITH QATAR

Doha BAIDAO STAR – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, concluded on Wednesday the Somali Diaspora Conference held in Doha from July 22 to 24, hosted by the sisterly State of Qatar, which brought together approximately 250 representatives from various Somali communities and diaspora activists, leading to the formulation of actionable recommendations and initiatives.  In his closing remarks, Minister Ahmed Fiqi expressed gratitude to the Qatari government for their warm hospitality and for hosting the event.  He highlighted the profound and enduring relationship between Somalia and Qatar, underscoring the values of mutual respect, solidarity, and cooperation that have defined their partnership. “Our two nations have always stood together, and as we gather in this spirit of unity, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening this bond,” he said.  The Minister called upon Qatari investors to focus on key sectors within Somalia, emphasizing that such investments would not only yield significant economic benefits but also fortify the longstanding ties between the peoples of both nations.  Addressing the Somali diaspora, Minister Fiqi acknowledged their invaluable contributions to Somalia’s progress. “You are the heart and soul of our nation. Your efforts have been pivotal in supporting families, communities, and the overall development of our country.  Now, more than ever, Somalia needs your active involvement in revitalizing our economy and fostering its growth,” he stated.
